How do I switch off Internet Explorer's ‘Compatibility Mode’?
Last updated on September 05, 2025
‘Compatibility Mode’ is a feature of Internet Explorer 9 that enables compatibility for older websites. Clinical Key is built for modern browsers, so it does not always work completely with ‘Compatibility Mode’ activated. Although you still can view content, some functionality may be unavailable.
How
To switch off ‘Compatibility Mode’, please follow the steps below:
- Open Clinical Key in Internet Explorer.
- Press the ‘Alt’ key on your keyboard to ensure the menu bar is shown.
- Select the ‘Tools’ menu.
- Choose ‘Compatibility View Settings'.
Please note: If ‘Compatibility View Settings’ cannot be selected or does not appear in the ‘Tools’ menu, ‘Compatibility Mode’ may have been selected by your company as the default setting. Please contact your local IT administrator to request that your browser be configured to enable Clinical Key to load normally.
- Highlight ‘Clinical Key’ in the list of websites displayed and select ‘Remove’.
If Clinical Key is not displayed in the list, or if you do not have permission to make the change, please contact your local IT administrator.
