How do I refine my search or filter my results?

You can refine your search or filter your results to limit the entire set of search results to only the results you want to see.

Click on the options below to find out more about refining your search and filtering your results:
For ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing
You can select the content type you would like to search by clicking the drop-down menu to the left of the 'Search' box on the homepage or by doing so after clicking 'Search' at the top of all other pages. Only the content type you choose will be returned in the results.
You can also select the 'Clinical Focus' filter to view multiple clinical content types in the search results. Select 'Clinical Focus' at the bottom of the search drop-down menu to view combined results from these content types: images, drug monographs, guidelines, patient education, Clinical Overviews, videos, and Procedure Videos. Journal guideline articles may also appear in the search results.
For ClinicalKey Student
You can select the content type you would like to search by clicking the drop-down menu to the left of the 'Search' bar on the homepage. Only the content type you choose will be returned in the results.
On the left side of the Search Results page, you also can filter the results by making selections in the 'Content Type' section.
For ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing
To filter Search results by publication date, use the interactive drop-down menu on the left side of the Search results page. Select the entry for the date ranges you want to see on the drop-down menu labeled 'Date'.
For ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing
To use a citation to search for content in ClinicalKey, enter your search information in the following format in the 'Search' field.
Format: ‘[MedlineTitleAbbreviated]. [YYYY] [Mon] [DD];[Vol#]([Iss#]):[StartPage]-[EndPage]’
Example: ‘Am Heart J. 2009 Apr 28;53(17):1475-87’
For ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing
To filter results by content type when viewing the results, use the interactive filter on the left side of the search results page. You can select multiple types of content you want to see, such as full-text journal articles, books, or clinical trials.
ClinicalKey lists types of content by the number of resources available in each category, from greatest to least.
For ClinicalKey Student
To filter by content type when viewing the results, use the interactive filter on the left side of the search results page.
On the left side of the Search Results page, you also can filter the results by making selections in the 'Content Type' section.
You can select multiple types of content you want to see, including books, images and videos.
To filter search results by specialty, use the interactive filters on the left side of the search results page. You can select multiple types of specialties you would like to see, such as 'cardiovascular disease' or 'orthopedics'.
ClinicalKey lists types of specialties alphabetically.
