Administrators can personalize an institution's text messages for the ScienceDirect and Scopus Registration/Login pages, and the ScienceDirect and Scopus Full Text Access pages.
Select a product below to see more information:
When you enter the Edit Institutional Messages page, the default Login/Register Text and Full-Text Access Text messages appear.
How
Follow these steps to edit an institutional message:
- In the 'Login/Register Text Message' frame, from the 'Use Inherited Login/Register' dropdown, select whether to use the inherited value of the Super-Account, Account, or Department.
- If you select ‘No’, in 'Login/Register Text Message', enter custom text to appear on the Login/Registration page.
- In the Full-Text Access Text Message frame, from the ‘Use Inherited Full Text...’ dropdown, select whether to use the inherited value of the Super-Account, Account, or Department.
- If you select ‘No’, in ‘Full-Text Access Text Message’, enter custom text to appear on the Full Text Access page.

- If you select ‘No’, in ‘Remote Access Text Message’, enter custom text to appear on the Remote Access page.
Note: For accounts that are configured to use Shibboleth or self-managed remote access, this message is automatically generated.
- Click ‘Save’. The View ScienceDirect Institutional Text Messages page opens.
Notes on Inherited Values:
- If you select ‘Yes’, the message from the inherited Super-Account, Account, or Department (based on hierarchical rules) appears in the ‘Inherited Value’ text field. This field is not editable.
- If you would like to use part of the inherited message, copy the text, choose ‘No’, and then paste the text to edit.
- If you select ‘No’, you can enter a custom message.
- If you select ‘No’, and then click ‘Save’ without entering a value for the text message, then the custom message, which overrides any inherited message, is empty. The message appears as empty text on both the View Institutional Text Messages page and on related ScienceDirect pages.
