We have added comprehensive recording of Scopus AI events to our COUNTER reports. This means overall number of searches will include keyword, author and Scopus AI searches, and all other Scopus search types.
- COP5 Counter widget: TR, DR and PR Counter reports can now display COP5 reports breakdown by child accounts for Consortia (Super Accounts). Selecting the option “Consortium members” will add 2 new attributes in the report Customer_ID and Institution_Name.
- COP5 Counter widget: End users could now download 36 months of Standard COP5 reports.
- The following widgets are now available at consortium level (Super Account): Popular Publications, Mendeley Institutional Edition Usage, Engineering Village Usage and API usage.
- Journal Demand: the widget has been reviewed to display the Total_Item_Requests Counter metric based on TR_J1 Counter report (excluding Open Access and Text and Data Mining usage).
- ScienceDirect: breakdown of COP5 reports per group (organizational unit) is available into the Platform and Title Master reports since February 2023. The groups are flexible and customisable through Admin Tool. You need to select the attribute sciencedirect:group from COP5 Master report to get the COP5 usage report per group. The sciencedirect:group attribute will be empty in the report for any selected period before February 2023.
- Scopus: usage tracking was down between March 06 ~12:00 UTC, to March 08 ~17:00 UTC. It means that there will be no usage for this period into the Counter COP5 reports and Scopus Usage widget.
- Granular Usage Reporting has been implemented through COP5 ScienceDirect Counter Master reports. More information available on the Elsevier Access Support Center.
- The Mendeley Institutional Edition (MIE) widget has been reinstated. Please provide any feedback using our in-product feedback button.

- Counter Web widget error messages have been improved when a mandatory parameter was missing.
- [ClinicalKey] A new attribute clinicalkey:product is available into Counter Title and Platform Master Reports. This attribute provides you the ability to breakdown usage per product if you are subscribed to more than one ClinicalKey product.
- [Scopus] Basic search events were not counted as “Searches” in our reports between October 19, 2022, and the end of October 2022. A fix has been implemented to avoid this issue since November 01, 2022. The total searches Counter metrics (available into E-PIC Scopus usage widget as well) will be ca -17% of their expected value for October.
- COUNTER Improvements "JBS Turnaways": a turnaway is counted where a user is unable to access a unique content item because their institution does not have a license to the content. In October we included all JBS titles (e.g. thelancet.com) into ScienceDirect COUNTER reports delivered through E-PIC. This will help customers to better identify content that they should consider purchasing from Elsevier. Previously these turnaways were only reported for ScienceDirect.com. These numbers will be included in September COUNTER reports and in future reports.
- ScienceDirect Usage widget: the vertical axis scale will depend now on the selected displayed period and not the complete period (last 4 years). So the scale can change when the user changes the displayed period but it will avoid to display a small chart with a high scale when there was a spike before or after the displayed period.
- Counter widget: add link to SUSHI Elsevier developer portal in the description below the title in order to provide useful information for the users who want to automate the download of the Counter reports.
- A feedback button was added to all widgets in the left hand corner to collect customer feedback.
- API Usage widget: Export feature has been added in order to export chart as image/pdf or data into csv/xls file (all period).
- The Mendeley Institutional Edition (MIE) widget has temporarily been removed from E-PIC whilst we resolve an issue with this data. We currently have no date for when this will be reinstated.
- Counter COP5 widget: ClinicalKey now has Counter COP5 Reports available. If a customer account has subscribed to ClinicalKey, it will appear as a choice (radiobutton) in the list of products.
- Journal Turnaways Widget: Released Journal Family selection that will help end users to list top 10 journals with turnaways on specific journal families like Cell Press, Clinics or Masson for example.
- Scopus usage widget: Fixed export description issue on usage per subject. The period information was incorrect in the exported file. Usage per subject provides insights on the last 12 months.
- Journal value beyond downloads: Fixed Citescore displayed in the list of top 10 Journals by displaying last complete Citescore available into Scopus which is 2021 today.
- Counter COP5 widget: Change title from "COUNTER (COP5) and Supplementary Reports" to "COUNTER (COP5) Reports" to avoid our end users being unnecessarily confused with Admin Tool supplementary reports.
- Counter COP5 widget: Book chapters in press usage is now included in the ScienceDirect Title reports. Please be aware that book chapters in press usage were only included in the Platform reports, and not be found in the ScienceDirect Title reports. This issue was due to the fact that there is no ISBN assigned to these chapters in press yet. We have fixed the issue to add this usage into the Counter Title reports for all periods (Book Title reports TR_B1, TR_B2, TR_B3 and Master Title Reports).
- Counter COP5 widget: Fixed Counter COP5 tabular reports by adding no byte order mark (BOM). Using a BOM (0xEF 0xBB 0xBF) is recommended to improve automatic encoding detection in spreadsheet applications (even though byte order has no meaning in UTF-8).
- E-PIC becomes the central location for downloading customer usage reports. While the AdminTool remains the location for account administration.
