Why am I being prompted to add my paper to Journal Finder?

Last updated on November 17, 2025

Authors who submit their research to SSRN will be prompted with an option to use Elsevier's Journal Finder. Journal Finder is a free tool which suggests journals that match the scope of your research.

How does it work on SSRN?

  1. Once you have submitted your paper to SSRN you will be prompted to use Journal Finder as a means of finding a recommended Elsevier journal to publish your preprint in.
  2. Your title and abstract should automatically populate into the Journal Finder tool. If not, simply input your 'Paper Title', 'Paper Abstract' and other important metadata into the appropriate fields and Journal Finder will match your information and offer suitable journal recommendations.

Using Journal Finder via SSRN can assist you in matching your research to the appropriate Elsevier Journal.
