What are Conference Proceedings on SSRN?
Last updated on August 20, 2021
Conference organizers work with SSRN to host conference proceedings within our library using our Proceedings Hosting solution. SSRN helps extend the reach of the papers within the proceedings, the conference event and the accepted/invited authors by hosting and distributing proceedings through our global, interdisciplinary platform. Conference proceedings on SSRN are displayed on a permanent, logo-branded page and are freely accessible to all users.
Does SSRN peer review the proceedings or facilitate review as part of Proceedings Hosting?
No, the responsibility for peer review belongs to the conference organizer. SSRN does not facilitate peer review of the proceedings papers and does not provide a review system for conferences. SSRN hosts only a conference’s accepted papers (proceedings).
Do proceedings papers receive a DOI?
Yes, eligible submissions are submitted to Crossref to receive an SSRN DOI which ensures the author(s) can claim their work very early in the sharing process.
Does SSRN provide an ISSN or ISBN for proceedings?
No, SSRN does not provide an ISSN or ISBN for proceedings. However, if a conference obtains an ISSN/ISBN independently of SSRN we can note this on your proceedings.
Does SSRN have a required paper template, format or page number limitations?
No, SSRN does not require conferences to use a particular template or format for proceedings papers. If the conference does plan to use a template of their own making, SSRN needs to approve the template before the proceedings are uploaded to SSRN. Your SSRN Proceedings Coordinator will request a sample of your template if you have one.
Also, SSRN does not have a minimum or maximum page number requirement for proceedings papers.
Can authors edit a paper that a conference organizer posts as part of proceedings?
Yes, authors have access to edit or remove a paper even if it is posted by a conference organizer as part of proceedings. Conference organizers also have access to edit or remove a paper after posting it as part of proceedings. This helps to ensure the most recent, and copyright compliant, version of the paper appears in the proceedings.
It is SSRN’s expectation that conference organizers inform authors the proceedings will be posted on SSRN before uploading the proceedings.
