May I alter, make modifications to, or adapt illustrations in the Netter Collection?

Last updated on June 30, 2025

Netter images are available for license at www.NetterImages.com . When you purchase an image for your usecase, the purchase includes a license for that usecase.

It is permissible to crop illustrations and remove or suppress the labels or leader lines. But you are not permitted to make changes, modifications, or alterations to the artwork itself. For example, you may not have an artist "draw in" a break in a bone, a tear in a muscle, or a medical device such as a surgical scalpel to depict a medical condition without express written permission from Elsevier.

You may also not remove the artist signature.  The artist signature must be visible.   If you have any doubts about what can and cannot be done with our illustrations, consult our license agreement, your invoice, or email us at: [email protected].
