This article explains how to access LeapSpace, sign in using your institution, and resolve common access issues.
How do I access LeapSpace?
Go to https://www.sciencedirect.com/leapspace and choose one of the available sign‑in options based on your organization or access type.
I use Single Sign‑On (SSO) in my organization. How do I sign in?
- Go to LeapSpace
- Select Access through your organization
- Search for and select your organization
- Sign in using your organizational credentials
- When prompted, register or sign in with your email address
- Once complete, you’ll be signed in to LeapSpace.
I entered my institution email address and got a “Register” prompt — what does this mean?
If your email isn’t yet registered with Elsevier, we’ll send you an email asking you to complete registration.
Check your Inbox and Spam folder, select Get access in the email, and finish the registration process.
My organization uses IP access. Can I use LeapSpace?
Yes, if you are within the IP range of your organization or have VPN access you will be able to access LeapSpace this way.
Enter your email address and either sign in (if you already have an account) or register.
You may need to verify your email if you haven’t done so before.
I bought a personal subscription. How do I access LeapSpace?
You can enter your email address and sign in. You may need to verify your email if you haven’t done so before.
Steps to access LeapSpace
- After you receive email confirmation that your subscription is active, go to LeapSpace
- Sign in using your username and password. Use the same credentials associated with your LeapSpace subscription.
- If you previously used an Elsevier account tied to your organization, sign out of that account before signing in with your individual credentials. Alternatively, you can delete cookies (not saved passwords) from your browser to sign in with another account.
How do I use a Registration ID (RegID)?
If you received a Registration ID, you must activate it before using it for the first time.
Follow these instructions from our dedicated Elsevier Access support center.
After activation:
- Go to sciencedirect.com/leapspace
- Enter your email address
- Sign in or register
- You’ll be signed in and ready to use LeapSpace.
Why am I being asked to verify my email?
Email verification is required for secure access and entitlement.
If you see a verification prompt, follow the instructions to complete sign‑in.
I’m signed in, but I don’t have access to LeapSpace. What should I do?
Try the following steps depending on your situation:
- I’m signed in with a user account (personal email)
Select Access through your organization to check whether your institution subscribes.
If you have another subscribed email address, sign in or register with that address. - I’m signed in with an organization that is not subscribed
Select Access through another organization and choose the organization that provides your LeapSpace access. - I’m signed in with both an organization and an email that are not subscribed
Select Access through another organization.
You’ll be prompted to sign in or register.
I don’t see my organization listed
If your new organization isn’t listed or you still see your old organization, it might be due to your cookies.
