How do I save and tag content in ClinicalKey?
Last updated on August 18, 2021
The 'Saved Content' feature enables you to save links to content. You can then use the ‘Tag’ feature to add your own labels to the items you saved. This enables you to sort your saved links and view them according to the categories you have created.
To use the saved content and Tag features you must be logged into your registered account.
Note: As of July 2020, users can now save journals by choosing a title through the browse menu and clicking the star icon to add it to their Saved Content.
How
Select from the options below to view the steps for saving content and adding, deleting, editing or sharing a tag:
When you view Search results or are in the content itself, click the star icon. Clicking this icon saves the content to your Saved Content area.
You can add a tag in the dialog screen when saving an item, or you can add a tag later, on your Saved Content page.
Follow these steps to add a tag to a previously saved item:
- Click your name or the Spine menu (three stacked, horizontal lines) in the upper-right corner of the screen and select ‘Saved Content’.
- This takes you to the ‘Saved’ page, where links to your saved content are displayed.
- Click ‘Add/Edit Tags’ link below the title of your saved item.
- Click ‘Create new Tag’ to create a new tag, or ‘Apply Tag’ to apply an already existing tag.
- When creating a new Tag, enter the name of the new Tag in the designated field, and click ‘Add’.
Please note: ClinicalKey allows ‘Tags’ to have the same name, so if you want to avoid duplication, choose a unique name, or edit an existing ‘Tag’ to make it unique.
After completing these steps:
- You will see the tag displayed below your saved item.
- Your tag will appear under the ‘My Tags’ section on the right side of the page.
Follow these steps to delete a Tag from saved content:
- Click your name or the Spine menu (three stacked, horizontal lines) in the upper-right corner of the screen and select ‘Saved Content’.
- This takes you to the 'Saved page', where links to your saved content are displayed.
- You can choose to either delete one Tag on your saved item, or to remove all instances of the Tag:
- To delete one instance of a Tag: Below the individual content item in your Saved list, click the ‘X’ next to the Tag's name. This removes the Tag from that item only.
- To delete all instances of a Tag: Go to the MyTags section in the top-right corner, click ‘Edit’, and then click the ‘Delete’ icon next to the name of the Tag. This deletes the Tag everywhere it appears.
- Click your name or the Spine menu (three stacked, horizontal lines) in the upper-right corner of the screen and select ‘Saved Content’.
- This takes you to the ‘Saved’ page, where links to your saved content are displayed.
- Click ‘Edit’ next to ‘My Tags’ in the top-right corner.
- All your Tags can now be edited or deleted.
- Please note: A change made here will apply to all current instances of the Tag. (For details on deleting one instance of a Tag, see above.)
- Make your required edits and press 'Enter' when you are finished.
Use the Share Tag feature to email your Saved Content Tags to another ClinicalKey user by following the steps below:
- Click your name or the Spine menu (three stacked, horizontal lines) in the upper-right corner of the screen and select ‘Saved Content’.
- This takes you to the ‘Saved’ page, where links to your saved content are displayed.
- In the upper-right corner, click ‘Share’.
- In the ‘Share Tag’ window, click the down-arrow to the right of ‘Choose a tag to share’ and select the desired Tag.
- Enter the email addresses of the people with whom you wish to share the content. If entering multiple email addresses, use a comma to separate them.
- Click ‘Send’.
After completing these steps:
- The persons you shared the Tag with will receive an email with a link to their Saved Content page.
- All content tagged with the shared Tag will appear on their Saved Content page.
- The Tag will be labelled ‘New’ in their ‘My Tags’ section.
